Reading Greek

Here is the text of Mark 1:1-2 in the original Greek with the interlinear English translation:

Ἀρχὴ τοῦ εὐαγγελίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ·

Beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, Son of God.

Καθὼς γέγραπται ἐν τῷ Ἠσαΐᾳ τῷ προφήτῃ·

As it has been written in Isaiah the prophet:

Ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω τὸν ἄγγελόν μου πρὸ προσώπου σου,

Behold, I send my messenger before your face,

ὃς κατασκευάσει τὴν ὁδόν σου·

who will prepare your way.

Read the following passage. Transliterate it into our alphabet.

 

 

᾿Εν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ Λόγος,

 

 

 

καὶ ὁ Λόγος ἦν πρὸς τὸν Θεόν,

 

 

 

καὶ Θεὸς ἦν ὁ Λόγος.

 

 

 

οὗτος ἦν ἐν ἀρχῇ πρὸς τὸν Θεόν.

 

 

 

πάντα δι᾿ αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο,

 

 

 

καὶ χωρὶς αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο οὐδὲ ἕν ὃ γέγονεν.

 

 

 

ἐν αὐτῷ ζωὴ ἦν,

 

 

 

καὶ ἡ ζωὴ ἦν τὸ φῶς τῶν ἀνθρώπων·

 

 

 

καὶ τὸ φῶς ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ φαίνει,

 

 

 

καὶ ἡ σκοτία αὐτὸ οὐ κατέλαβεν.
